Shameless, Indeed

Washington Post: Cheney Accuses Iraq Critics of Shameless Revisionism. Vice President Cheney today accused political opponents of engaging in "corrupt and shameless" revisionism by charging that the Bush administration misled the nation into the Iraq war, and he warned that any sudden withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq "would be a victory for the terrorists."
The corruption was in the way the administration misrepresented things in its charge into war. The worst shamelessness is Cheney's.
Yet it's also true that a precipitous pullout could cause more harm than good. The U.S. needs a disengagement strategy -- forget about "winning" outright -- that doesn't plunge Iraq into the kind of civil war that might end up setting fire to the entire region.
No great choices here, just less bad ones.
